We are teaming up once again with our long-time collaborators WAF Constructions to design a new multi-use building in North Melbourne. The prominent 10-storey building utilises a deep façade reveal shrouded by a system of handmade dark, metallic ceramic tile louvres. The nuances in the metallic materiality will give the structure a varied appearance in different lighting. Through the day its reflective properties will appear silver and gold making the mass disappear against the sky. At other times it will be more solid, providing an interesting variation to the street.
The grand entrance canopy is created by fine steel detailing which also forms the fins for the louvre system, highlighting the client’s skill with custom metalwork.
