Splinter has been yet again faced with the challenge of a small
existing single fronted home, requiring better use of space and
greater solar gain.
The rear of the property has been planned to create three
courtyards; two central courtyards provide increased access
to sunlight and cross ventilation, whilst the third courtyard, at
the rear of the property can provide off street parking or
another space with sun shading for summer lunches.
The clients, both from a hospitality background and with an
interest in classic danish furniture wanted spaces that were
light filled and clean, with a simple and functional kitchen.
The result is a series of simple interlocking forms and spaces,
with a focus on detailing and fine finishes.
