The third of a collection of houses in the one street
in Kensington, Melbourne, this small house with South facing
yard, required renovation and extension to increase solar
gain and functionality of the existing house.
The project involved opening the rear of the house up to the
sky, by splitting the existing gable roof and inserting a roof
deck surrounded by windows.
A new courtyard was carved out of the center of the house
and new lounge, study, dining and kitchen designed to
feed off it.
This new configuration increased solar gain, use of space
and cross ventilation, making it a great place to live.
